Personal Video Recorder (PVR) Upgrade
I have been running a PVR for the last 4 years, taking advantage of the great digital TV age that Australia has to offer. Starting with a simple test system, my PVR has evolved its way through time. The history of my PVR has been a turbulant one, from running a system with bare minimum specs running MythTV on Gentoo, to the great hardware failure of 2006, which saw a rebuild of the PVR from ground up with up to date hardware, and eventually the use of Mythbuntu.
So, what does 2008 hold for my humble little project? Why, an upgrade to multiple HD tuners of cos! Not 2, but 3 tuners in total!
This feat wasn’t that hard to be honest. I went out and bought the Hauppauge Nova-T 500 card, slapped it into my PVR and within 5 min of booting up, I have configured the 2 additional tuners and removed all conflicts on my recording schedule. No need to recompile kernels, or even MythTV, all thanks to Mythbuntu!
Anyway, 3 HD tuners is definitely the way to go and I highly recommend anyone who is serious about a PVR, to purchase the Nova-T 500 card.
Apple Store Sydney
So, it is now officially open! The Apple Store in Sydney is now open to the public featuring 3 levels of products. Total space for all 3 levels of goodness is almost 1500 sq m. This places the Sydney store as the first Apple Store in the southern hemisphere, and the 2nd largest in the world.
Anyway, enough of statistics 
My excitement stems from the benefits of having free Apple seminars. I might have spent some time in the Apple store on opening day today, but I was purely there to find out more about the Prolab series of workshops. Well, good news is, we get lots of them, bad news is, the whole of July is booked out 
I’ll be keeping my eyes opened for future workshops then…
